Super easy glass etching tutorial
What you’ll need:
- Old glass bottle (I used a San Pelligrino bottle, I love the green glass)
- Glass Etching cream (I purchased some from Hobby Lobby, $10 for a tiny bottle but a little goes a long ways) I used Armour Etch
- Blue Painters tapeĀ
- Pen or Pencil
- Paintbrush
- X-acto Knife
First, section of a part of your glass and make a block of tape for your stencil
Next, draw the shape or letter forms you’d like to etch. Keep in mind the counters or white spaces in the middle of letterforms, you want those to stay
Cut away the portions you want etched
WIth your paintbrush directly from the jar AND while avoiding skin contact dab on the etching cream liberally. You don’t need to pile it on but you need adequate coverage so that your stenciled areas appear white
Wait 5 minutes & Rinse thoroughly with water.
VOILA. You’ve got a funky, one-of-a kind etched glass.
